Week 3

A. Durham Cathedral Landscape

I decided to take this photograph because I thought it was classic Durham. I wanted to capture three main areas of focus in this picture; the Cathedral, the river and the home below. I chose to include this photo in my blog of the diverse landscape the picture possesses. I like how the three main focal points make the landscape that much more interesting rather than capturing a distant shot of the city.

B. Durham Cathedral Architecture - North

I decided to take this photo because I wanted to show the beauty and detail of Durham Cathedral that was created so long ago. The rich history of the cathedral is breathtaking and the craftsmanship on both the inside and out is amazing. I chose to include this picture in my blog because I like how the photo is slightly off center yet still manages to portray its great size and beauty.

C. Lion Still Life

I wanted to take this photo because it is the symbol of Alnwick. The lion has been a central figure in the town for hundreds of years. I decided to include it in my blog because it was the first symbol of Alnwick I saw as we approached the castle one month ago.

D. Shrove Tuesday Onlookers

I decided to take this picture because I thought the two young girls looked so peaceful in the cold rain. They were onlookers at the Shrove Tuesday football game and stood off to the side cheering on their friends. I wanted to include this photo in my blog because of the composition and feeling the photo portrays.

E. Sheep Wildlife

I decided to take this photo because I wanted to capture the essence of England. Sheep populate more of the country than people do. Because they surround the castle land I wanted to include them in my blog.

F. Night Time at Durham Cathedral- South

I decided to take this photograph because of Durham Cathedral's massive size and impressive architecture. Its rich history was so overwhelming I wanted to document it and include it in my blog. I chose to take the photo at night to highlight the structure against the dark background.

G. Abstract Manhole

I decided to take this photograph because of the odd lines and uncertainty of balance. I like the imperfections in the steal. The cracks and holes make the photo that much more interesting. I wanted to include this photo because the uniqueness it possesses.

H. Players in Motion

I wanted to take this photo because it represents a very important day in Alnwick England. Shrove Tuesday marks the upcoming Christian tradition of Lent. I wanted to include this picture in my blog because on this day hundreds come out for football and fun.

I. Low Angle Flower Shot

I decided to take this photo because I wanted to capture a different perspective. I chose to include this photo in my blog because I like how the pictures main focus in the front flower but your eye still travels further into the picture to see the nature behind.

J. Flowers From Above

I decided to take this photograph to show the bold colors of the flowers from a high perspective. I like how even though the photo is taken at a night angle you can still see the beauty of the flowers. I chose to include this picture in my blog because I liked the off set composition and character the picture possesses.
