Week 8



A. Gran Canaria LandscapeThis photo was taken on the island of Gran Cararia in the Canary Islands. I like this picture because you can see the diverse nature of the island. The long peninsula of residential life, the lush green leaves of brush, the sandy beach, and the tourist locations.


B. The Duomo in Milan
This picture was taken in Milan Italy. The Duomo Cathedral is a popular religious location and tourist spot. I like how the Duomo is framed by a sea of people and modern buildings.

C. Angles in the Statue
This photo was taken at the Alnwick garden. The garden is filled with unique statues and modern fountains. I like this photo because it antique nature in the presence of new plant life and art.

D. Little Girl in Bamboo
This photo was taken in the Alnwick gardens. She was playing hide and go seek with her mom in the bamboo maze. I snapped a photo of her as she laughed her way down the cobbled path.

E. Big Sheep
I took this picture on a hike I took through Hulne Park in Alnwick. The sheep literally watched me walk for a good 100ft. It was just so mangy and scruffy I had to take a picture of it.

F. Durham at Night
This picture was taken in Durham. I like this photo because of the lighting effects the light had on the castle. The main focus is clear and the building in front becomes second in nature.

F. Abstract Stone
I took this picture was taken on a walk through Alnwick. I wanted to capture a different perspective of the old stone. I like how the main focus is on the top stone and how it slowly fades into the photo.

H. Sailboat in Motion at Lake Como
This picture was taken at Lake Como in Italy. It was a beautiful day and so many people were outside enjoying the weather. I like this picture because although the main focus is on the sailboat, the gorgeous scenery still has a great presence.

I. Low Angle of Venice Apartment
This picture was taken in the streets of Venice Italy. I took this photo because I thought this apartment was a perfect example of a 'true' Italian apartment; with the soft color stucco, window boxes and old weathered shutters. Someday I plan on owning one.

J. High Angle Gondola in Venice
This photo was taken in Venice Italy. I like this photo because the main focus is solely on the gondola. Because there are no roads in Venice, the main way to get around the gorgeous city is by gondola. It was a cool experience to see them in person.

Week 7

A. Venice Landscape


Venice Italy is the city on water. I have always wanted to travel to Venice and now that I have, I only want to go back. The city is a beautiful maze that is both mystical and romantic. By far, Venice was one of my favorite places I have travelled thus far. The landscape is so unique to Venice; being there was an amazing sight.


B. St. Marks Cathedral in Venice

St. Marks Cathedral is in the centre of St. Marks Square in Venice Italy. The detailed exterior was gorgeous against the pale blue sky. Thousands of people visit the square each day to see the impressive and breathtaking architecture.


C. Masks in Venice

This picture was taken in Venice Italy. All across the city vendors and stores housed hundreds of masks. Historically masquerading was a popular past time and most all Venetians took part. I thought they were beautiful hand make artefacts



D. Local of Milan

This photo was taken in Milan Italy. I was fascinated by the fashion in Milan. I noticed that the 80’s fashion is coming back ten fold all across Europe. This picture perfectly illustrates the 80’s comeback.

E. Lake Como, Italy: Nature

This photo was taken at Lake Como Italy. I like this photo because of the vast difference in landscape and nature. The bright blue water fills the lake, the green trees and luxurious homes cover the hills, and the Swiss Alps peak through in the distance.


F. Gran Canaria Beach at Night


This photo was taken on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. While on vacation I took many day and dusk photos of the beach that I decided to capture a night photo. I like this picture because of tiny bright lights against the royal blue sky.


G. Abstract Coffee

This picture was taken in Milan Italy. I was walking through the city one day and came across this structure. It seemed very out of place and irrelevant to the setting of old buildings and cathedrals. I thought it was so strange I decided to take a picture of it. I wanted to take it from an obscure angle to capture the coffee cup structure in a unique manner.


H. Gondolas in Motion

This picture was taken in Venice Italy. I really like this picture because I was able to capture three different gondolas moving down the canal. It is an amazing and beautiful city.


I. Gallaria Vittorio Emanuele Low Angle


This photo was taken in Milan Italy. The Gallaria Vittorio Emanuele is a popular shopping center directly adjacent the Duomo. I like this photo because of the off set angle and large entrance. It really shows its grand presence in the square. Inside it only becomes more beautiful with glass ceilings, coffee shops, and stores.


J. Looking down on Gran Canaria
This picture was taken from the plane above Gran Canaria . I like this photo because it captures the coast line of the island and the presence of the right wing really gives depth to the photo.

Week 6

A. Paris Landscape

This picture was taken from on top of the Eiffel Tower. I like this photo because you can see the different landmarks and topography. I took this picture without flash to highlight the lights and grassy areas.

B. The Luve and Eiffle Tower

This picture shows the far end of the Luve and Eiffel Tower. I like this picture because it portrays the postcard effect while still managing to keep composition of all three focal points.

C. Statue Still Life


This picture was taken at the Luve in Pairs France. I wanted to include it in my blog because it is reminiscent of the famous ‘David.’ It is a perfect piece to include in still life.

D. Strollingin Paris
I took this picture outside of the Moulin Rough in Paris France. We were in a large tourist group waking down the red light district and suddenly I saw a local casually strolling down the street. It really brought a sense of realism to Paris when often times it tends to be so romanticized.
E. Swan Wildlife
During my trip to London’s Hampshire Court I noticed several swans in the gardens. I thought they were so beautiful and wanted to document them. We don’t have many swans in Minnesota and I chose to include this photo in my blog because of their originality.

F. Eiffel Tower at Night

To me, the Eiffel Tower represents Paris. Its massive side and beauty is so grand I chose to include this photo in my blog. While in Paris, seeing the Eiffel Tower was a total highlight.


G. Plant abstract
I decided to take this photo because I wanted to try something new with camera angles. Often times people take a high angle shot of plant life; I chose to come at a different angle showing the length and plain of the plant.


H.British Guards in Motion

This photo was taken at London Tower. The British guards were doing their daily rotations. They all got into formation and marched off to their new location. They are some of the few people in all of England to posses a firearm.



I. Eiffel Tower Low Angle

The Eiffel Tower was amazing at night. The lights tuned on every hour at dusk and would sparkle like diamonds. I wanted to take an unconventional shot of the tower so I came in from a low angle and slightly off center.




J. High Angle from St Pauls Cathedral

This picture was taken from the first tier of St Paul’s Cathedral in London. From the top you could see all of London for miles. This shot was taken as a high angle in order to represent the distance from the top of the tower to the busy streets below.

Week 5


A. Tenerife Landscape


I decided to take this photo because of the diverse landscape the island possesess. I wanted to include this photo in my blog because I liked the composition of both the Spainish architecture along the volcano backdrop.

B. Monastery Architecture


I decided to take this photo because I wanted to include different perspectives of the ruins. I included this photo in my blog because I like how the picture captures all the different angles and shadows of the monastery.


C. Playful Still Life

I took this photo because I thought it was humorous that someone put this broken lawn ornament in the middle of what used to be a place of worship. It was so strange that it was there; I had to take a picture of it. I included it in my blog to show someone’s sense of humor and the eccentric placement of the ugly ornament.


D. Tenerife Guest


I chose to take this picture because of the beautiful scenery and the unique and stylish man. I wanted to include this photo in my blog becasue i liked the closeness and intamacy of the photograph and the originality of the man himself.

E. Unique Nature

I wanted to take this picture because I thought this plant was so unique and interesting. I included it into my blog because I liked that the ocean is was in the scenery behind yet the main focus still remains the exceptional plant.

F. Tenerife at Night

I decided to take this picture because of the sheer beauty of the Tenerife sunset. I chose to include it in my blog because of the soft colors and unique roof top composition.

G. Experimental Textures

I decided to take this photo out of sheer experimentation. I liked how the three textures work together to make an interesting photo pop. I included this picture in my blog because of the composition of the three textures and the interesting shadows each object casts.

H. Pheasant in Motion

I decided to take this picture because I had never seen a pheasant in real life before. I was walking home and the thing popped out right in front of me and scared me. When I attempted to take a photo of it is kept running away. I chose to include this photo because the pheasant kept running from me but I finally caught a good snap shot of it.



I. Low Angle at the Monastery

I chose to take this picture because I liked the effect the two windows made in the photograph. I included it in my blog because I liked the composition of the picture and the stone colors against the green hedges growing along the side.

J. High angle on the sea


I decided to take this photo becase I thought the lighting was so original for a high angle shot. I wanted to include this photograph in my blog because I thought it was so peacefull and beautiful.

Week 4

A. English Landscape

I took this photo becasue I thought it represented true English counrtyside. I wanted to include it in my blog becase I liked the distance the photo captured and all the colofurl highlights.

B. Brizlee Tower Structure


I took this photo of the Brizlee Tower because I liked the detail at the bottom of the stucture. I also chose to sacrafice composition to enhance my shot. I included this picture in my blog because I liked the offset nature of the shot and the detail of the tree.

C. Countryside Bench Object


I took this photo becasuse I thought it looked so serene and intriguing. I decided to include this photograph in my blog because I liked the composition of the photo and the contrast in colors.


D. People on the go in Newcastle



I decided to take this photo because I liked how each individual captured is in their own world despite the fast paced life of Newcastle whipping by. I wanted to include this picture in my blog because I liked how the people are the main attraction when there is still so much going on.

E. Bull Wildlife


I took this photo because I wanted to capture counrtyside wildlife. I included this picture in my blog because I liked how each bulls profile is captured.


F. Night at the Museum

I decided to take this photo because I thought the building had interesting architecture. The museum is located right outside the castle walls and I thought it was an important landmark to document in my blog.

G. Abstract Concrete


I decided to take this photo because I liked how the wavy lines in the concrete contrasted with the linear slabs of stone. I wanted to include it in my blog because of the obscurity and originality.


H. Sheep in Motion


I decided to take this photo because I wanted to get a picture of the baby lamb. But the other sheep kept walking in front of him. I included this in my blog because I finally got the baby lamb, and the others walking.


I. Low Angle Brizlee Tower


I decided to take this photo because I was able to capture the one minute of clear blue sky while focusing on my low angle shot. I wanted to include this photograph in my blog because I thought the composition turned out beautifully.

J. High Angle off the Brizlee Tower

I decided to take this photo because I was curious how such a large drop would turn out on film. The Brizlee Tower is quite tall yet the the photo doesn't fully capture that effect. I wanted to include this photo in my blog because I think its interesting how your eye remains focused on the drop down, yet it seems so small.
